Leona Lewis may be one of the biggest artists to come out of the X Factor but it seems it’s not enough for Simon Cowell.
It’s been reported that Leona was ‘dropped’ from Simon’s record label Syco and has now moved to Island records.
The news has been confirmed by Simon and Leona on their Twitter accounts.
Taking to Twitter Leona tweeted:
So happy to finally be able to share the amazing news that I have joined the @islandrecordsuk family! Excited for this next chapter…
Simon then tweeted:
Congratulations Leona. We had 7 great years together and now wish you all the best for the future. You put X Factor on the map. X
In another statement Leona said:
“After seven incredible years at Sony I feel honoured to be given the opportunity to sign to perhaps the most iconic label of all, Island Records,” the statement read.
“To me Island has always been a label where artists can really flourish and are encouraged to express themselves.”
Leona has been singed to Syco for seven years now so it’s been a long time we just hope she’s happy with the new label.
Simon has said previously that Leona is one of the biggest artists to cone out of the X Factor and we have to say we completely agree.
