Sue Johnston Was “Starstruck” The First Time She Stepped Foot On Corrie Set!

Sue Johnstion has talked about the first time she stepped foot on the Coronation Street set!

The Royle Family star admitted that she was very nervous before stepping on to the cobbles for the first time.

Sue playes Stella Price’s mum Gloria in the soap.

Sue said:

“I was a bit giddy when I saw them all. It’s a very strange feeling, because you have to divorce what you see on telly and get to know the real actors. I called Craig Charles by his character’s name, Lloyd.

“I’m just a bit scared of this one – I can’t imagine me in Coronation Street. It belongs in history.

“Every time I go on a different set I meet another group of actors and I think somebody is going to be horrible. But they’re not – they’re so lovely and welcoming.”

Sues first apperance in Corrie will be tongith ITV 1 at 7:30PM.

The Royle Family’s Sue Johnstone To Join Coronation Street

Sue Johnston To star on Coronation Street.

You may know Sue Johnstone from the hit TV series The Royle Family and Brookside. But now Sue is set to join the cast on Coronation Street.

The Cheshire-born star, 68, will play the mother of Michelle Collins’ character Stella Price.

Phil Collinson the boss of Corrie told the news on ITV`s This Morning today.

He said to shows hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford:

‘I’m very excited to be able to tell you today that Sue Johnson is going to be joining the Coronation Street cast – she starts recording with us in a couple of weeks and she’ll be on screen in June playing Gloria, Stella’s mum.

‘She’ll be feisty, she comes over from Spain a bit perma tanned and very glamorous! They’ll be some real sparks flying, and of course Sue’s a legend.’
