BBC`S popular soap Eastenders has caused Uproar from fans of the show as the BBC have changed the day of the Omnibus show to Friday night instead of Sunday afternoon!
The Omnibus is on for 1 hour 55 minute and now has been said to be shown on BBC1 on Friday nights until the early hours of Saturday morning.
BBC changed the days over the Easter weekend but fans of the show thort they had just changed it for a one off as it was Easter!
However, the BBC have now confirmed the Friday night slot will be a permanent arrangement ahead of the Diamond Jubilee, Olympics and Euro 2012.
A spokesman confirmed:
‘Viewers now catch up on EastEnders through digital recorders, our BBC Three repeat or on iPlayer.
‘We’ve therefore decided to move the omnibus.’
The last show that was shown on a Sunday got 792,000 viewers but the views dropped down to 477,000 when it moved to Friday last week.
Some fans of the soap have hit out at the decision on internet forums and Twitter.
One viewer wrote on Digital Spy: ‘This is so stupid. The Sunday omnibus is tradition. Who’ll watch it at that time?’
One Twitter user ranted: ‘Putting the omnibus edition in the middle of the night doesn’t help those of us who don’t get to see all episodes in the week.’
